Organizing Your Laundry Room
The laundry room is probably the most unorganized place in the home. It’s definitely one that doesn’t always catch the attention of being the best room in the house. Fortunately, there is some reorganization that can be done to make it more inviting and not so full of visible laundry detergent. Keeping your laundry supplies organized can also make the job a lot easier for you as well.
Use Wall Space
You might have a laundry room with a lot of empty wall space, don’t discard that space! You can always add more shelves and wall organizers to help keep your laundry supplies neat and tidy. Add hooks to your wall to help those garments to dry or hats and other fabrics that you can’t dry in your dryer. You can even decorate your laundry room with wall art or pictures to make the room look more vibrant.
Stay Organized with Baskets
Nowadays, people are using cute baskets to help them stay organized. You can place these baskets on the top shelf to hold small items or store them away in cabinets. Don’t end up with clutter on top of your appliances or on the floor. Keep everything stored away in the baskets at all times or in cabinets away from everyone to see.
Create a Space to Hang Clothes
Some of us might have the habit of placing our newly dried laundry into another laundry basket, like myself, which causes them to become more wrinkled. Or there’s a good chance that it won’t get folded and stays in the laundry basket until it’s time to wear it and you notice how wrinkled it is. Add a rack or hooks to the wall for line drying your clothes so they don’t become wrinkled after all that work you just put in washing them. You can always fold your clothes and hang them up immediately after drying, but just in case you don’t have time and you have other matters to take care of, I would recommend hanging them up until you are able to properly put them away.
Separate Laundry
Organizing the clothes before you wash them on laundry day is a big task. Sorting lights, darks, delicates, and socks takes a lot of time out of doing laundry. You can get 3 or more separate laundry baskets and throughout the week place specific clothing into those laundry baskets. That way your laundry is already organized and ready to wash on laundry day. You can also have a laundry basket for each family member as well. Once the laundry is clean, each person is responsible for folding and putting away their laundry. This helps decrease the workload for just one person and everyone can have a hand in doing the laundry each week.
Make Space for Your Pets
Instead of having your pets belongings in the way of traffic for everyone to look at and smell, you can always place them in the laundry room. Especially if you have a cat, their kitty litter can be in the laundry room out of sight and smell for everyone who visits your home. Their crate and toys can belong in the laundry room as well, that way when they need to be washed, you don’t have to go looking all over the house for them.
